Great idea, but the Base64 encoding killed it for me. Add an actual encryption system

The point of the Base64 encoding was just to prevent people from getting your information from Files. Although I will add an encryption system next update.

@leviathan
Yeah but base64 isn’t really an encryption system at all, you can easily access, and decrypt it.

Yeah it's not the most secure type of storing info. I'm still looking for an encryption shortcut that works without internet. Once I find one I'll add it to PassVault. Do you know of any encryption shortcuts that can encrypt and decrypt without an internet connection?

@leviathan
I mean offline would be pretty tough, as of right now I honestly don’t know any shortcuts that can encrypt text offline. But I have some ideas that might work. Do
You have discord, I can contact you from there?

@OIRNOIR
A couple years ago I made a shortcut that could do all of that, but it runs incredibly slowly. As of now it is broken on the latest OS and I have no motivation to fix it, having been inactive here since jan of '21. Encryption within Shortcuts is simply never going to be a viable option.

UpdateKIT doesn‘t work, because you forgot to add the run shortcut command

Those have been removed, they shouldn’t be required in the most recent version. Perhaps you are using a newer version? I recently rolled back the version of PassVault so that may be the problem.

@RandomGuy2010
For your information, base64 generally takes up more space, so this is not really viable.

I know, but base64 is used along with hashes to encrypt the contents of the vault.

For me it keeps saying the web content could not be loaded (also for upvault same happens) but I gave it permission. Could you please help? I am on iOS 16.4

Sounds like the updater is failing to check. I don't know what could be causing it other than a VPN or similar blocking it. It could possibly be IOS 16.4's fault.

I am not sure why, but it is said that you should never use SHA512 for passwords. I would use SHA256 also base64 is not encryption. It is possible with 3rd party apps though.

It's not exactly complete encryption but it is a lot more secure than most shortcuts. I'm trying to get AES encryption currently, but it's very buggy.
