Description
Duplicate Image Guard (“DIG”) helps protect you against duplicate images by checking your Photos library for the image passed into the shortcut (via share sheet) and alerting you if the image already exists in your Photos library.
Run DIG by long-pressing on an image and selecting ‘Copy’ from the contextual menu, then you can either:
-
long-press the image again and select Share > Duplicate Image Guard OR
-
open the share sheet and select ‘Duplicate Image Guard’
If the image already exists in your Photos library, the image will be discarded from your clipboard. However, if the image doesn’t exist, the image will be saved to your Photos library.
In either case, you will receive a notification informing you of the outcome.
Please Note: DIG works by getting certain details of an image and filtering all photos in your Photos library, using the values as parameters. As a result, the images must be identical. If two images are the same but different sizes for example, there is no way for DIG to identify the image as a duplicate.
