Yes, I took a screenshot of it: https://ibb.co/DbRdBXw IOS 14 does not have the ability to choose a local directory; it can only work instead with an online one (in the “cloud”). Shortcuts needing Dropbox and iCloud work just fine on my iOS 14.3 version just fine.

I think a query like: “If you haven’t updated iOS on your phone in years, you may want to check your version [here] > [14][15][16] or [skip]” and decision tree to include for iOS <15 w/ iCloud presumed & iOS >14 allowing local folders.

Since it’s a pretty uncommon use case, I made a compatibility version of the latest version of the two shortcuts that you can use to get the other improvements. Thanks for these special versions, for some reason, they sort of get stuck and don’t result in any production from GPT. The one I linked, an earlier version does work though of that Shortcut. Should I upload a video of it maybe?

That is strange, I have noticed that the whisper API can hang rarely, but if this happens every time there must be a problem. If you open both shortcuts in the editor and run them, does it show which action it’s hanging on?

I got it working, but figured out the reason of that “hanging”, I think. So, if I initialize it through Siri, it will hang once given one answer, and that’s it. You have to Siri it again. If you manually initialize it in Shortcuts, then it will await subsequent input after acknowledging its written reply. In both cases, you can see, it interrupts the process by asking for the API key despite it has been previously given—I think I’m not doing it right.

Thought about this some more, while I can’t load the videos now, based on what you’re describing it might be a difference in how the key is saved on older iOS versions. Does running this shortcut to save the key fix it? https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/3e4594b2ff024bd48f5f948ec6109b90 If that doesn’t fix it, but the rest of the shortcut still works, delete the “If API Key does not have any value” action from the both shortcuts, and say yes when it asks if you want to delete the actions insid

I tried this now, not sure what I should see. One thing I noticed is that it pulled the API key apparently from the clipboard into a text box inside of this patch shortcut; is that what you needed to see? Also, this approach is supposed to be a good way to go. In this one, I only had to enter the API key once, and it's been work all round so if the patch shortcuts objective is to operate from within the Shortcut instead of relying on an external file, that should work well!

Hangs on Siri trying to find it using it with "Hey Siri, Whisper to GPT" is that not possible? I now there's the Talk to Siri one but without Whisper the voice to text is pretty rough so really little point. But if there's some combination possible of being able to call Hey Siri and go whisper to gpt I would be quite pleased knowing it!

Siri really does not seem to want to run shortcuts - I found the best result when I say “Hey Siri Run Shortcut Whisper to GPT” to force it to look for shortcuts.

This works nicely except for the fact that it continuously loops, there’s no easy way to stop the shortcut. It just keeps recording and spitting back responses endlessly
