Just like with so many of the other available ChatGPT shortcuts, this one does not work for me. The correct API key is entered, all directions are followed. What it does do is put the question I ask into a note, but no results are returned. It's as if a piece of information is missing in order for ChatGPT to respond, and, so far, no one can say what it is.

Sorry to hear it’s not working for you. When it only records the Question but not the Answer sometimes it’s because there’s no API Key written or it’s incorrect. However you said you filled it in correctly. Are you possibly getting this error code: Could not evaluate the key path. In ", no value was found for dictionary key 'choices'.

Also I’m not sure but you might be getting a similar issue of only the Question being recorded if you ran out of credits in your OpenAI account. You get $5-$18 worth of free credits when you open your account, which are good for 3 months.

So if it’s been longer than 3 months since you opened your account (or you just used the API a lot in the past and ran out of credits) and all the Chat GPT shortcuts you try you have the same issue maybe you need to top up your account credits to continue using the API? Is Siri speaking the answer or is that missing as well? Also sometimes it could be something simple like accidentally editing or deleting something. Happened to me before, very frustrating.

I think that you may have nailed the problem: No one else I have queried on this mentioned credits. Your suggestion prompted me to Google "Openai API key credits", and I see that to use ChatGPT I will have to purchase tokens. I'm not sure that I want to do that, it seems that it might end up costing quite a bit monthly should I not govern my usage. I thank you for your quick response, and for giving viable answers to the problem.

It would depend on if you are using GPT-3.5 or GPT-4. If you are using GPT-3.5 the cost is $0.002 / 1K tokens and 1K tokens = about 750 words. So you could get about 750,000 words for $2 not bad. Be aware the tokens do count both the question and answer though. GPT-4 is more expensive though at 15x - 60x the cost of GPT-3.5 based on the context you’re using. Did you click the three dots in the top right corner of the shortcut to edit and then add your Open AI API Key in the text box?

Yes I did. I can see on the openAI website that the key has never been used.

Hmm. When you click on the three dots to edit the shortcut and scroll throughout do you see any red colored lettering? That would signify something is broken.
