Photography location notetaker

Location data saved to a note for later use in photography metadata

Description

In the before times photographers used notepads with pens to record metadata about photos they were making, which is a lovely prospect, but I have an iPhone in my pocket and a Watch on my wrist. So I've made an Apple Shortcut that will record the metadata in time and in place for later use, either with an EXIF editor or my personal go-to app, Metapho on the iPhone.

This shortcut and its sibling will simply make a new Apple Note for the day if there isn’t one already and record time and place, or if you use the second shortcut that dictates a note, also that text note.

I wanted an easy way of recording location and any notes related to photos I was making other on a film camera or on a camera that didn't have GPS on it. This is that shortcut, enjoy! There’s a separate shortcut also records a dictated note which would be helpful for either metadata recording, captioning, or names etc.

The shortcut asks the phone for the current location, weather, details, time, and date, and looks for an Apple Note created for the day, if there already is one, adds the data to the end, if there isn't a note for today, it creates one and add the data to the end.

Please feel free to edit/amend for your own personal photo making benefit.
