Mass Text
Mass text sender without making group text
Description
This shortcut will send a mass text out to those you specify. It does this without creating a group text to save you from the trouble of sharing numbers with everyone.
You have the option to select contacts individually or to create a group within the shortcut. Alternatively, you have the option to filter based on a group that you have already created within the iOS or iCloud Contacts app.
As of v2.02 this shortcut now has a built in updater mechanism

@gasboy
This is amazing, thank you! I wonder if it's possible to delete the message threads after sending a message to several people.

I am glad that you are liking it!
Unfortunately shortcuts cannot delete messages from the Messages app. It may be some thing that comes available in the future though, if it does I will try to add something like that in the functionality

@Aleksandar
Hello is there anyway to remove the “hi followed by contact”?

You mean when sending to a defined group?

@Aleksandar
No the group works great.
However when I click a defined group and send a message the message starts with “hi name”. For example “Hi john”. Is there any way to remove the “hi name “ and just have it say the message?
Thanks so much for the reply

Yes it's possible for sure. I had added that previously as a personal touch for sending to a defined group but it can certainly be removed. Or would it be better for you if I tweak it so it asks if you want to include a greeting?

The latest update includes a question to answer whether or not the greeting is included for defined groups

Awesome shortcut! How about attachments (PDFs/Photos) ?
The only solution I can think of is sending the text of a photo's iCloud Link ...

Thanks much! Unfortunately the only way is to either load them in iCloud Drive like you mentioned, or to turn on the compose sheet option in the send message action, which then requires you to tap send for each recipient

Thanks for the info! Loading into iCloud Drive isn't an issue. Is the solution to use the iCloud link or is it possible to select the image directly from iCloud Drive so that the image is sent as a photo within a text?

It would be sending the link by using the get link to file action. Or like I mentioned, using the send message compose sheet option could work but it's a lot of tapping send

This appears to be "broken" in iOS15, are you seeing the same thing?

I haven't updated to iOS 15 yet and am not planning to until things for shortcuts become more stable. What specifically did you have issues with?

@MattPackwood
I get a failure about "not able to access that number of contacts", so I made a list with just 10 contacts, that seems to "just fail" with no errors thrown.

I think another user reported the same to me but I haven't had the issue yet but I heard it was only if more than 59 contacts selected

@MattPackwood
I had more than 59 in the Group in my Address Book. I set up a group with two members and tried it, I got "There is a problem running the shortcut 'Mass Text'."

I'm guessing you had an issue posting your reply and that's why there is three, but no worries.
The error message you saw, has nothing to do with the shortcut, or any shortcut for that matter and everything to do with iOS 15 bugs. Current iOS 15 has introduced many bugs in Shortcuts and is the main reason I'm not using iOS 15 on my daily driver phone yet. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do at the moment to try and fix this. Hopefully in 15.2 or 15.3 we will get more stability

No worries, I am using Safari on my iMac and it looks like that is making the tread editing / replying "ugly". I will try on iOS15.1 and report more then.

I am on 15.1 and am getting a message “This action is trying to share 19 Contacts items, which is not allowed. You can allow this in settings” - but there does not seem to be a way to allow it (I already have the permissions “approved”).

@MattPackwood
Hi @mvan231 It looks like it works for "2" contacts but not 19, there does not seem to be a way to give permissions for that.

Succeed! It could be one of the most useful blogs and website. We have ever come across on the subject. Excellent info! I’m also an expert on this topic so I can understand your effort very well. Thanks for the huge help.
