Really great shortcut! Maybe in the next version you could include an edition/translation picker? (Eg NKJ, Message, NLT, etc) It currently only supports ESV.

Good idea, I've added a Text section where the Bible version of choice can be typed into the shortcut code.
Didn't use a prompt so as to keep the search process as minimal as possible!

Seriously, what a life saver! I love the ingenuity and efficiency you added to my life with this shortcut. I’m in charge of making summaries of the sermons in my church via my Sunday notes so this is beyond helpful for me as well as for my own personal growth.

This is amazing. Thanks. I’ve paired it with a couple other shortcuts and literally save hours.
Hopefully quick question. I can’t seem to get psalm to work. It’s the only book I’ve had trouble with. Wondering if you would help?

Definitely I can help! If we can fix it, it’ll make the Bible search more complete/reliable for for us.
Can I get some examples of psalms inputs that don’t work as expected? So I can replicate the error.

It is a problem with one of my shortcuts. I can’t seem to pass it on to the Bible search correctly, would you be willing to help me out?

I see! Can I ask, what input do you use for the book of Psalms? For example, do you use: "Psa 23:1-2" or "Psm 23:1-2"?

I just figured it out! Thanks for getting back to me. I started a set of Discipling groups and each one is on a different NT and a psalm daily Bible reading plan. So I created calendars in Airtable, and had them subscribe to the right calendar. Then added onto the your shortcut a search for the reading. I had to split text, split again, remove spaces then merge. A little bit of a process but works very smoothly and keeps everyone in the same date. Thanks so much!!!!

@Calushikid
Could there be a way to make Siri tell you what the verses says if you ask instead of opening the app?

Hi @Calushikid, thanks for the suggestion, it took me way longer than expected to work out an imperfect version of what you suggested.
I left the shortcut here for you to access:

(Continuing from above)
However it’s severely limited at the moment:
1. For it’s search input, It is difficult for Siri to get accurate diction (if you are able to get it right, feel free to amend the shortcut to your specifications)
2. Bible App only provides chapter-wise search, meaning it is unable to read individual verses
