Will you be adding updater support?
I had to check through the recently updated
section to find out there was one available.
I’d love for mine to be in the running!

Cool! Is there any way I can assist you there? This is a really awesome shortcut and I want to make sure it stays alive.

The next update will add support for saving blank icons to your photos or files. Those will be able to be used with shortcuts like Fancy Icon Maker (https://routinehub.co/shortcut/6759/) to launch shortcuts or apps.

Great shortcut! Im requesting the ability to make blank icons for the first page on ipad pro when you have the persistent widget area. When you have that the spaces between the icons are narrower. Thanks in advance!

Hey robirc18! I have got a cool idea for you!
Combining Blank Icon Maker and Fancy Icon Maker together! (Maybe call the shortcut robric18’s Icon Maker)
This is what it will look like:
Start: Welcome to robirc18’s Icon Maker! Do you want to make invisible icons (with or without a image on top) or do you want to make custom icons?
Middle: Run blank/fancy icon maker
End: Where should the icon lead you to? (An app or website)

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but sometimes when selecting "a few" slots the blank icons generated aren't for the correct positions and/or the total number is less than the amount I chose. Any thoughts? (oh & I have an iPhone 12 Pro)

I’ve never run into this issue before. Are you using the most recent version of the shortcut? Can you find a trend for which locations it happens with? Are you installing the configuration profile or saving the icons individually? Are you overlaying other items?

@dastefster
Yes, I have v0.42. not sure why, but the blank icons generated in the selection screen also include 6 additional black ones, for a total of 30, instead of 24 like in the 1st screenshot above. As far as I can tell, the issues only occur when the black icons are in the spaces I select. The additional icons mess up the transparent ones' arrangement & if selected, they aren't included in the downloaded profile. Thus far I've always installed the config & haven't tried overlaying yet.

It appears you are using a device that we some extra black icons
To make up for blank spaces on the image selection screen. If you don’t select those icons the images should appear correctly when added to the homescreen. However, if you have bank spaces on other pages of your phone, the phone may try to fill in those spaces first. The way to fix that is to move the earlier images to the beginning of the page you want your images on. The black images won’t ever populate as icons.

Great shortcut! Can a similar method be used to get transparency in icons without doing something like having a fully black wallpaper? Or would things like that be considered next to impossible?

Does the overlay option not do what you want? Actual transparency is not possible with current shortcut restrictions.

This seems like it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. However, when I run it and load the image. It gives me a 5x7 grid to choose from. My home screen is 4x7. I have an iPhone XS Max.

I absolutely love this shortcut and use it regularly on my iPhone 12 mini. However, it doesn’t seem to work on my iPad mini (the only options I get are for iPad Pro). I’m upgrading to an iPad mini 6, will the shortcut work on those?

Have you tried using the iPad Pro options and seeing if they work? I’m not sure, but that might work.
In order for the shortcut to work with the new devices, they will have to either have the same screen dimensions as an existing device or I will need to add options. I’m not sure what the story is dimension wise. If they haven’t changed, it should work. If not, let me know and I will update it.
