Description
Title says it all. After loosing all my (previously backed up) Shortcuts due to iCloud sync issues and user error, and then running into challenges trying to restore a backup (didn't work because iOS 14.4.x can't restore nor import from a file), I've decided to make lives easier for everyone. A minor modification will allow for scheduling regular backups using Shortcuts' Automations.

Modified the shortcuts so that it can now be passed a command that drives one of the 4 actions (Archive Shortcuts, Restore from Archive, Backup all Shortcuts and Restore from Backup. This way the Shortcut can be used in iOS Automations, especially when using it for re-occuring backups. When using in an automation, you'll want to pass in a Dictionary with a Key called "Command" and its value being one of the 4 actions (for example, "Backup All Shortcuts").

Great job! How are you able to schedule automatic backups using automations? I have never been able to use any of these automatically because of the menu choices.

That's where the modification comes in. You'd have to provide some kind of data with the automation and then in the Shortcut analyze that data. I'm planning to release a standalone Backup shortcut that will make using automations easier.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not sure I understand what you meant by analyzing data. Maybe add a comment within shortcut. Will you be able to restore backups using this shortcut on backups created by the standalone shortcut?

Good idea, I might add that comment in a future version. You essentially would just add a couple of steps at the beginning that say if Shortcut Input equals whatever you used in the automation, then just run the Backup part of this shortcut.
And yes, the backups created by the (future) standalone Backup shortcut could be restored by this one ..
